The sunshine story of Malibu started in 1978 and it was originally called Coco Rico. Since 1980 when Malibu was launched people were amazed by its rich flavors and unique taste, and so in no time at all, Malibu earned the reputation as a fun and fresh brand that made people want to be a part of an easygoing way of life.

For many years, the white rum used in Malibu was produced at a distillery on a beach in Barbados. Today, Malibu is blended and produced mostly in Canada, and we also do some of the production in the US and Spain.

The white rum is distilled from a sweet syrup made when refining sugarcanes, which makes Malibu the perfect main spirit in sweet cocktails like Malibu Piña Colada, Malibu Bay Breeze, and the Malibu Frozen Daiquiri. Rumour has it was initially invented to make the Piña Colada easier to prepare and more delicious, but no matter your choice of drinks, Malibu is here to make whatever tastes good to you. So, grab your friends, mix up something tasty, and let the good times roll.

Our product comes in a large variety of flavours. Check out the product page to find your favourite! But remember, only Malibu Original and Malibu Black have our unique coconut flavour.

Does Malibu Original contain coconut milk / cream / dairy? 

No, Malibu Original does not contain coconut milk, cream of coconut or dairy.

Is Malibu Original suitable for vegans? 

We do not add animal derivatives into our products, however, one of our sugar suppliers uses a process that is not considered vegan-friendly. While this is a common practice in the sugar industry, it unfortunately also means we are unable to call Malibu suitable for a vegan diet. 

Is Malibu a coconut rum?

No! Malibu is not a coconut rum. We are a white-rum based spirit with coconut flavour.
